Dirty Deeds

There was a certain coolness, which you could feel, when you were hanging out with your friends, and listening to this kind of music. This song came out in 1976, when I was going to start my freshman year of high school. I wore my hair long, and I was usually wearing a tight t-shirt and tight blue jeans. What can I say, that was the style in the 70's, especially if you hung out with the party crowd.
Here is a rare version of 'Dirty Deeds done dirt cheap' with Bon Scott. I think that he had a much better voice than Brian Johnson, who was hired to take the place of Scott, after he had died. Johnson's voice has a deeper screechier sound than Scott's voice had. I like the Bon Scott version better.
I am including both versions of this song, so that you can hear the difference
between the two of them, and then you can choose the version that you like better.

I hope that you will let me know, which version you chose, by leaving me a comment.

Is this song cool or what?

When the first Steve Miller Band album came out, me and my friends played it to death. When I heard the song Swing town, I was hooked. Later on I talked to another friend, who had went to a concert to see them, and he said that he ended up walking out. Apparently the Steve Miller Band only sounded good on the album.
I know that there are probably more bands out there that have the same problem, but they must have better sound guys to help them to compensate for this problem.

Anyways, the video that I chose is the recording from the studio and not a live performance, because when I listened to the live recording, it really did suck!

Am I the only one who liked this song when first heard?

I recently found this video on the net and I was like, "Oh wow, I haven't heard this song in a long time."
My family moved into the town of South Colton, when I was going on 12 years old. I made new friends, and we listened to a lot of records, while we were hanging out together. This is one of the records that I played a lot, because at that age, I found this song to be pretty cool sounding, and the guy's vocals sounded kind of cool too.
With that said, I hope that someone out there, will also be happy to hear this song again.

At camp with my mom's side of the family

This song came on the radio when I was at the family owned camp, back on the hill, behind my grandmother's house, by the river. I was sitting outside in a lawn chair listening to the radio looking out toward the Raquette River when this cool Queen song came on the radio, and I was like WOW ... what a cool voice this guy has. It put me in a state of awe. From that point on, I have never heard a singing voice that could top Freddie Mercury's voice ... and yes, I did cry my eyes out when I heard the news that he died. I hope that you enjoy this song as much as I do whenever I hear it.

Can you believe that this song wasn't censored back in 1979?

When I was still living in upstate New York, when I was 17, a song came on the radio that sounded pretty cool and about three quarters of the way through the song the lead singer, Deborah Harry, sings, "soon turned out to be a pain in the ass."
I don't know if the radio stations didn't know what she said or they played it anyways because they thought that no one would know what she had actually said.
This is the video for the song " Heart of glass"

I was a fan of the original styx band

The song 'Lady' from the band Styx was the reason that I became a fan of their music ... except for the song 'Mr. Roboto' , which was a little to whacky sounding for me to get in to it. Anyways, with all that aside, I found that the song 'lady' to be on the cool side of the scale because it was a pretty rocking sounding love song.
I was saddened by the fact that the band eventually broke up. This video is from a reunion concert that didn't keep the band together after the reunion concert was over.
The rumor is that Tommy Shaw actually broke up the band because he claimed that Styx wasn't rocking enough for him, although when he joined the band 'Damn Yankees' , that band wasn't very rocking either, so you know that he left the band because of another reason, which had something to do with Dennis De Young being the leader of the band and not Tommy. Sometimes egos do get in the way, so I am going to agree with this reason instead of the other reason for the band's break up.
I hope that you will enjoy this live version of 'Lady' because the original band members sound pretty awesome when they sing together.

x-rated song from the 70's

The first time that I heard this song I was sitting in my boyfriend's car and the song started playing. I am struggling with my memory on this one though, because it either was on the radio, or it was from a cassette tape ... Well, if it was playing on the radio, it was a pretty racy song for even the 70's era, and therefore, probably caused this song to lose air time, or it could have been totally censored from the radio.
With all that aside, I was dating a guy named Mike, who seemed cool at that time, because he was a friend of my cousin Pam's boyfriend Darren. They were not from the same town that we lived in because we actually preferred dating guys, who were from a different school, because we knew to much about the guys in our school. The school was so small and there was no mystery, in other words.
If your not familiar with this song it might be because unless you bought the album or cassette, you probably only heard J. Geils band's cleaner type songs, and there were not very many of them, as you know. I am almost positive that you will find this song to be one of the coolest songs written in the 70's.
Please leave a comment to let me know what you think about the J. Geils band or this song.
